
Gingerbread House Contest for K-8th graders!!

Contest Details:
- Date: Dec. 16, 2023
- Age/Grade Categories include K - 2nd, and 3rd, 5th and 6th - 8th
- Registration Entry Fee: $10
- Waiver of Liability and Release signed by parent/guardian
- Your Gingerbread House will be judged
- A Photo of your Gingerbread House will be posted on social media along with your name and grade.
- Top Winners (first names) will be announced on social media and via email
- Drop Off Gingerbread Houses at the SYL Office Dec. 15, Friday 9-4 or Dec. 16. Saturday 10-11.
- Judging Event will be Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00.
Gingerbread House Construction Guidelines:
- Gingerbread House must be 100% edible (candy/embellishments) except for lights.
- Non-edible support structure material other than the baseboard may not be used.
- No artificial interior materials, such as Styrofoam or wood are to be used to construct or decorate the house.
- All Gingerbread Houses must be placed on a plywood board base or cardboard not exceeding 24" x 24".
- You may use a store-bought kit; however, creativity and originality will earn a higher score.
Drop Off/Judging Day
- Drop off your Gingerbread House at the SYL Office - 1016 NW Adams St. - McMinnville, OR 97128 on Dec. 15, Friday 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM or Dec. 16, Saturday, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.Please drop off no later than 11:00 AM on Saturday, Dec. 16.
- Judging will begin at 11:00.
- Top winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd place) may have the opportunity to be displayed for the Public. We will let you know if that works out.
- Gingerbread Houses not selected for public display may take Home after judging is completed.
Entries will be judged on: (maximum of 15 points)
- Overall Appearance/Presentation: 1-5 points
- Originality/Creativity: 1-5 points
- Precision/Attention to Detail/Neatness: 1-5 points
Participation prizes will be given and Gingerbread House Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age category.
